About Wally Huskonen

An avid genealogist for more than two decades, Wally Huskonen has researched his family history back to a wide mix of original immigrant ancestors, ranging from 17th century Dutch and English settlers
in New York and New England on his mother’s side to his paternal grandparents arriving from Finland in the early 20th century.

To expand his knowledge and understanding of genealogical and family history research, he regularly attends national, state, and local conferences, and he has completed the National Genealogical Society Home Study course.

He is a member of the following organizations:
Association of Professional Genealogists
National Genealogical Society
Ohio Genealogical Society
Cuyahoga Valley Genealogical Society, chapter of OGS
Ashtabula County Genealogical Society, chapter of OGS
North East Ohio Computer-Assisted Genealogy Society
Computer-Aided Genealogy-Cleveland Area Club

He also is a member of the following lineage societies: First Families of Ohio, Society of Civil War Families of Ohio, and Settlers and Builders of Ohio (charter member).

Wally is a trustee of the Ohio Genealogical Society, and the Genealogical Committee, an auxiliary of the Western Reserve Historical Society. He serves as co-editor the WRHS Genealogy Bulletin.

Wally has given lectures on genealogical topics at several Ohio Genealogical Society conferences and to several North East Ohio genealogical organizations.

He retired in 2002 as chief editor of two trade magazines for Penton Media, Inc., in Cleveland, and since then has devoted his time to genealogy research, writing, and making presentations.

In reviewing my blog website today, I finally found your email from almost one year ago. I will respond to any questions you have about Finnish immigration to America. But only in English–I don’t read, write, or speak Finnish. If necessary, I can pass along Finnish text to my brother Walfrid for translation. Kiitos

Greetings, I just wanted to thank you for your research on the Green family to whom I am also related. Josiah Green is my fifth great grandfather. Feel free to contact me at the address below… I have been tracing Bratt’s for about 25 years.
